SWAP - SEWING WITH A PLAN

Wow!!!! It has been a long while since I posted here.   I need to get better at it.   And that is where SWAP comes in.   What is SWAP?  So glad you asked. SWAP is Sewing With A Plan.    Now, I am not a planner kind of person.  But, I have found that if I have at least an idea of what I want to do, then I do better.    I do even better if that plan is written out.

So this SWAP idea came from my friend Erin over at https://averylanesewing.com/

On her facebook page she is hosting a SWAP for sewing a Mic and match wardrobe for the 18" dills, such as American Girl.    Since I have 3 granddaughters that play with these dolls, and they would like clothes for them, I decided to do this.    This SWAP starts with choosing items to make and what fabrics you are using.    Because this is a challenge, we have to use a book by Erin called Doll Days.  We also submit a plan, knowing it can change, with what clothes we are making and what fabrics.

I am taking a bit different of a twist for my holiday sewing.   In the past, I have been known to sew all day on Christmas Eve and usually late into the night.  Sometimes even get up early on Christmas morning and finish.   Every year I say not this year.  I will be finished early.  Well this year has to be the year.   Do to a high number of Covid cases and some of the family at high risk, we have decided, at this time, to not have everyone come for Christmas.  So, I have to have packages done for each family a few days before Christmas and our kids can go to his office and pick them up.

I have been taking the time today to pull some fabrics for some of the projects I am doing.

There are clothing items I want to make for the grandkids as well.   Yes. I know I can go buy the items.  But when I have seen things I have made, be passed from one kid to another, and how much they love to wear things I make and they tell their friends that grandma made it and how proud they are, then it makes me want to keep doing it.   So I will.

I will definitely be sharing the things I make.

Doll dress ready for gifting

Overalls and jumper I want to make for the 2 oldest granddaughters
Doll jogging pants ready for gifting.

So this list is not extensive.   Things will change.  If I find I have more time, more will get done.

So, do you have fun plans or things you would like to do for Christmas. I would love to hear.
